LAST WEEK OF HOMESCHOOL! WHOO HOO!

Five! Four! Three! Two! One! BLASTOFF.............summer officially begins Saturday afternoon when we finish our homeschool year. Now, I say "finish" lightly, as we do some things year 'round; math, reading, a writing assignment per week, phonics for the littles, and tangents. Yes, tangents. We usually lapbook a science topic or two and then tackle a new skill (ie. cursive).

But mostly, we'll have F.U.N. And Carl just bid and got Sunday-Monday off again (remember, this is a BIG deal in the airline industry) so we'll be able to attend church on Sunday mornings like normal people (not that we fit those "normal" molds all that well). We're going to take our kids swimming at our local recreation facility, possibly take a summer fieldtrip to Boonesboro, KY., visit the Creation Museum in KY, and visit family back in Ohio. We'll also head to Indiana Beach at summer's end, where an entire park is waiting for us. An empty park. With no lines. And a Jellystone campground with air conditioned cabins and heated pool just 1/4 mile from there. I'm looking forward to some "just for fun stuff" with Carl and the kids.

And speaking of summer, Reece just went into tears because the icecream truck just drove through the cul-de-sac. Let's see. At $2.50 a treat, it's not what you'd call a bargain. I passed. He cried. BRING ON SUMMER!

Personally I think ice cream trucks are the devils peons! One good thing about being on base- no ice cream trucks! The boys will not need therapy from this either!

Ice cream trucks - SO not a bargain! Thankfully they aren't in my neighborhood.

Um yeah, ice cream trucks are such a RIP OFF! I guess we need to stock up on popsicles from the market :)

And as far as "finishing" school: CONGRATS!
I think I want to spend my summer with you and your family...from the muesum, to the park, to the a/c cabins! What a blessing!

The Dinosaurs are back in Cleveland! The Cleveland Zoo has a summer exhibit of 15 animatronic dinosaurs. Just $2.00 in addition to your entry ticket. Last time they were here our kids got to dig for "fossils" in a humongous sand box with their brushes. Roars and sounds are sometimes scary for the little ones. NOTE: On Mondays, zoo admission is free to Cuyahoga County residents.

Hi and welcome, Missy and Kerry.
I posted on your blog, Kerry. I'm not able to locate yours, Missy. Do share if you have a link.

Dan, Reece went batty when he heard those dino noises at the Cleveland zoo. And I paid extra for his complete refusal to continue on through the exhibit, lol. We do have a fossil dig at the Children's Museum here and we have a annual family membership. He was scared of the dino noises here too, but has recently gotten used to them. Sheesh. Miss you and your family.
