We Need God in America Again
To turn on the news and hear of the Virginia Tech shootings was very disturbing. Sadly, what was equally disturbing to me was that I actually could say, "Not again." NOT. AGAIN. That it has happened and continues to happen both saddens and sickens me.
If you've read my profile, you already know I make no apology for the fact that I am a follower of Jesus Christ. And it is from that position that I boldy say it is my own personal belief that removing God from the foundations of this country is the reason that evil such as this has taken root.
I was reminded of an old song from the early 90's by Christian artist Carmen. The message is powerful, even if you do not agree with every statement he makes in the song (though I would encourage you to consider that God does not change and we cannot change Him to be the "god" we feel comfortable with; He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.)
Also, Sue posted some insightful comments over at Praise and Coffee. How great is our God indeed. Always a blessing to read your blog, Sue.
James 1:17
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Well put! I thought the same thing...Again? When will this stop? It is sad that this continues over and over....
I love that Carmen song and I totally agree with you! What a good post! I can not even fathom what it feels like to a student there or a parent of a student there
I woke up this morning and read the news about this
I go to bed tonight with that powerful video in my head
and what it says is so true however I dont think its just America I think its the whole world sure there are places that are safer but ultimately we are all teaching our children the same things
all over the world as the song says our children are being handed condons when they should be handed the word of God. Hes the one that can save us only Him.
Carmen is a great singer.
Tonight as all of today my thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by the aweful shooting that took place
May they rest in peace
Good night
Very true, Jen. We tend to relate to our immediate "world" and what impacts it. But this is s-a-d-l-y a global problem. And we Christians need to be bold in our faith and our visible in our walk if we truly believe the message of Carmen's song.
Blessings,
~Toni~
Amen. My heart is just heavy. I pray that out of this tragedy many will come to know the One who brings real and lasting peace.
I second the truth that God needs to be honored as GOD, not the god we decide we are comfortable with .
Christianity is not a relative concept, it's truth. (period)
I don't think that there's a mother [person] on the planet who doesn't ache about this.
Best wishes
