Thirteen Things about Toni (a country girl at heart)

THIRTEEN REASONS I MISS LIVING IN THE COUNTRY: *********** 1. The open spaces were a natural stress release for me (I don't like confinement). 2. Our 3.5 acre backyard view was unobstructed and faced the west. Can you say, "incredible sunsets"? (other unobstructed views included lightning storms, rainbows, hot air balloons, etc.) 3. I enjoyed riding a lawn tractor (yes, seriously). 4. My kids had so much land to safely explore and play on. 5. I loved watching the farmers work their fields (I'll be writing about my combine driving experience coming up in the Fall; I know y'all are waiting with joyful anticipation for that blog entry). 6. I loved taking my kids over to the fields across our road so we could experience growing crops "hands on." 7. There were no solicitors (though the JW's did find their way to our door). Did miss those little Girl Scouts and their cookies though. 8. There were no street lights or city lights; just Heavenly starlight and romantic moonlight. 9. We had neat visitors in our yard; deer, ducks, opossum, skunks, groundhogs, Luna moths, etc. 10. We had a much greater appreciation for a more simple pace of life. There's nothing like wide open spaces, a full front porch and a glass of cold iced tea in the summertime. 11. You don't deal with any of the negative neighborhood "stuff." 12. There's no such thing as "lawn prep" in the country (fertilizer and weed control? Ha!) 13. NO TRAFFIC LIGHTS (because there was no traffic)!!!!!!!!!unless of course you count the cars stuck behind a John Deere on its way to the fields. ********** Nehemiah 9:6 Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.

I could so relate! I miss living in the country. We had 40 acres to play and explore. I will say that town has given me walks to the park and library do make up for some of what I miss though.
Blessings to all,
De
I sometimes desire to live in the country and those are alll great reasons!
Amy's Random Thoughts blogging Scavenger HUnt starts May 1st. Details were announced today.. Dont you want to participate?
It sounds wonderful!!
I miss country living as well. While I grew up in a suburb of Milwaukee, we were in a VERY undeveloped area. Our neighbors were a minimum of a mile away.
The house was over 100 years old with trees around that age all around. The house was set WAY back off the road so even when there was traffic to the neighborhood up the road we rarely heard it. Unfortunately, it isn't like that there anymore.
Wonderful TT! Mine is up as well!
I miss it too! I grew up almost in the middle of Austin, Tx, but we lived on 11 acres so we had the joys of country living with the convenience of the big city.
The picture looks like it's in MN, where I moved from. I sometimes miss the country too. Happy TT!
I miss it too! Wait- I've never lived there in real life.
I just got home from the grocery story- bought thin mints ice cream! Didn't know the Girl Scouts were getting into the frozen foods too!
My TT is up
Great T13! I don't consider where we live to be "in the country". HOWEVER, there are cows on the other side of the fence behind the houses across the street! Their mooing sounds have startled more than one visitor to our home. Ahhhh! The suburbs!
Oh, for not having neighbor junk to deal with!
But being in town is nice for the kids in some ways, and keeps my taxi service from going into overload since they can walk to lots of things.
Oh, and "Go, soccer mom!" I have my kids in all different activities, so I can't see them all at the same time. Track, tennis, soccer, swimming, speech....
You are a gal after my own heart. There is something to be said for being 15 minutes from the office, though. Of course, when there's flooding, the boss wasn't buying it that I could not get to work. She also does not comprehend that they tend country roads better than city streets in the winter.
Thanks for visiting my TT.
