BULLET LIST

I'm going to give you a bullet list, y'all. Because you know everyone loves a bullet list. Only, I'm going to put away my bullet because I'm not sure how to use it, so,....here's a list. A random collection of snippets that just weren't meaty enough to stand alone.

1. VBS
We helped out with our church's VBS this past week. Phew, it's busy and we only had a small role. I helped with the older preschoolers and Carl helped with the 2's and 3's. This one little boy (who was beyond cute and cuddly) couldn't get the name of our snack down correctly. Something like this.

Me: We're eating Mucky Mud.
Him: Monkey butt? Mmmmm.
Me: No, Mucky Mud. We're eating Mucky Mud.
Him: Monkey butt? I'm eating Monkey butt?

2. We bought a new thatcher and bug killin' fertilizer today (because nothing says, "I love you, Padre" like dead bugs and dead grass.) Couldn't find the dang washer parts for the thatcher.
I mused, "I'll just run right back to the store and get those replaced. After all, they cost all of 14 cents and the gas will cost $4.
And wow, lookee here. Nary a washer to be found in Carl's toolbox. Mighty nice!
Thanks to Sears and his good friend Roebuck, whoever that is, we now get to spend $4 in gas to make the trip to pick up the missing 14 cent washers."
Um, whoever said, 'Don't sweat the small stuff" wasn't paying $4 for a gallon for gas, now were they?! (grrrr!)

3. Opened the $16 bag of bug killin' fertilizer and,...will ya take a little looky-lou at this? Joy! The bag is all wet.
And that'd be inside the bag, dear internets. So special, I know.
But ever the optimist, I thought, "Maybe this concoction is supposed to be the consistency of wet sand."

Sure, that probably wasn't the brightest conclusion I've ever drawn, but I'm not claiming to be anybody's 411 on lawncare products (as evidenced by my luxurious crabgrass astro turf).

So,...what did I do with that wet goop?

Why, I dumped the entire bag in the spreader and cranked her up. Now I may not know much about spreaders, but I do know that stuff should be flying off that baby in 247 directions all at the same time.

Nope.

Not today.

Not unless you call wet gumball sized splats "appropriate" lawn treatment.

I fixed it though. I poured that wet gobby mess in a white trash bag and had Carl return it for a dry bag. Oh, yes. I. Did. Too. Good riddens.

4. A certain neighbor never ceases to amaze me. We had a storm pass through today. Black clouds. Lots of wind. Thunder and lightning. And there he was. Hazzy, as we call him, riding his bike with his big, oversized camoflage coat and hood on. Joy riding. In a storm that was packing some seroius power.
A 14 year old completely oblivious to the power of a storm (it's okay though, because he had his camo gear on so I'm sure the lightning couldn't spot him).

5. Hazzy's mom watered her flowers this evening.
Now you might think, "And...your point being?"

And....
my point being she's about 24 cents short of a quarter.
I know, I know. "That's not nice."
Okay, I'll give you that.
But folks, FOLKS! (insert a little whine here for drama.) She was watering her flowers fifteen minutes after God dropped 352 barrels of rainwater on the front lawn. Things that make ya go, "hmmm."

My husband has done that! He called me from work asking me to turn on the sprinklers, like minutes after a downpour. Okay honey....

O.k. the watering the flowers is the best. I am sitting here laughing picturing that scenerio. The scary thing about that is she has a kid.

It was great to see you and Carl at VBS this year. Your family has been a great blessing to us at GFC.

Toni is not one to toot her own horn, but you should all know that they are servants.

How you can make me laugh so hard, just describing a day of yardwork, storms and strange neighbors, is beyond me. You get me every time.

24 cents short of a quarter. ROFLOL

I loved the part about the neighbor watering her plants after the storm! Isaac has been known to not bother to check the weather and spend hours watering the lawn only to have it storm only hours later!
