Cierah's week (part deux)

Now where was I? Oh yeah, Cierah's bad week, part deux. As I stated at the end of Cierah's bad week part one, have you ever had a 'copter wound up in your hair? Well, Linda Z did. Linda was the youngest child next door in the neighborhood where I spent the first 7 years of my life. When Linda was just a toddler, she got her hands on a toy helicopter that belonged to one of her four rambunctious brothers (oh, and there was also a much older sister in the bunch, and all six kids grew up in a small three bedroom raised ranch; that couldn't have been a good thing for six siblings that were already a major handful on any given day.)

One day, Linda's mom urgently summoned my mom to "Come quick" because, "Arrrrgh! Linda got Robby's helicopter all wound up in her hair. You have to help me." When my mom arrived on the scene, little Linda indeed had a chopper in her locks. And I mean down to the dermal layer. And the thing is, Linda's mom wasn't always the sharpest tool in the shed, so did she think to turn the motorized 'copter off before summoning help? Oh. No. She. Didn't. So my mom found Linda sitting there in tears, the 'copter going reeeeearrr-reeeeeearrr as it continually tried to encircle her head. Poor Linda lost her crop that day when my mom had to cut her free. And I'm pretty sure that was the beginning of my Mom's vision of attending cosmetology school (which, btw, she accomplished and then taught it for 20 years, then owned her own shop for another 15 or so).

So, what does the great 'copter incident of '72 have to do with my Cierah?
Um,...
well,...
Probably this! Nice bling, eh?

Oh. Yes. She. Did. Too.
And she wouldn't even talk to me. She just stood there resigned and defeated, telling me she tried to drive Reece's friction driven car across her head (sigh). And so, after several serious attempts at performing a primitive friction-toy-ectomy, we had to make the more difficult decision to bring in surgical tools, a.k.a. the scissors! Snip snip and her joy returned (as evidenced below).

Poor baby! I did stuff like that as a kid. I love the happy face!

Oh- poor kid. I have had that happen when I had long hair and my son had a similar toy--though not nearly so bad.

Oh, Toni, I love the look on her face in the first picture...it is so dejected and I know it wasn't staged!!! The contrast between the two pictures is so neat. I saw ToniPaige tagged you too. I'm looking forward to reading your answers!!

Awww. Her haircut looks good! I never experienced a helicoptor cut when I was little. Too funny though!

She looks so precious! You give great haircuts. I can't even count the times I had to cut or wrangle something out of my kiddo's hair. Just add 'hair stylist' to the long list of occupations you currently hold!! :)

Oh, Toni, Cierah looks soooo dejected in that first pic! I had a gum-in-the-hair incident when I was a little older than she is now. I had a little girl on my shoulders, and she was chewing bright pink, very sticky, bubble gum...and yup, it ended up in my down-to-my-waist-very-thick, hair! We used peanut butter to get it out. :-) I'm so glad you didn't have to cut off all her hair!

Nice fix. My little sister has a picture with her hair cropped to within an inch of her head for the same reason.

LOL! I'm giggling at all the people who can relate to the great 'copter incident of '72. And Sniz, you're so right. The photo was not staged. In fact, I took several shots where I attempted to make Cierah smile (I hadn't originally planned on a before and after shot, but this is what resulted when she couldn't manage a smile.)
Blessings,
~Toni~

Hi Toni-
Your post reminds me of that song,"Momma told me there'd be days like this....." Poor girl!
We've never met but I just posted a meme I'd like you to do. Just go to my blog and it'll explain everything.
Thanks!

Poor thang! My youngest once wound my smallest curling brush into her hair. I was ready to get the scissors but my husband had a better idea. Pluck each and every bristle out of the brush. Took a littl over an hour but worked like a charm.

Glad you were able to capture the incident to remember forever!
