Philippeans 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Okay, y'all. I'm just gonna preface this little post by pointing out that God's word does include the above verse, which does state that in everything we should present our requests to God. Keep it in mind as you read on.

Every Sunday, we ask the kids about their time in Sunday school class. We want them to focus on the bible accounts presented in class and to be able to retell them to us when we get home. You know, kind of like a pop quiz so they don't just daydream their way through bible time. Today was another typical Sunday. Well, almost. A snippet of my conversation with Reece.

Me: "SoOoo,...what happened in Sunday school today?"
Reece (proudly): "The teacher asked us if we had any prayer requests and I, I,...I said I did."
Me (excited and proud): You did? That's wonderful. And what did you request prayer for?
(I was all aglow here, because I just knew he was going to say that he wanted to save 'monies for heaven', which is what he's calling the bible translation fund our family is working on)
Reece: "I asked for prayer for my dupe because it itches, and the other kids laughed at me."

BUG-EYED GULP!!!

Seriously though? My Reece wouldn't think twice about asking such a thing. He speaks what is on his heart and mind, innocently and sometimes naively so. For instance, he didn't "get" why they found his request funny.

Yes, folks. Your little ones are probably praying for Fido's lost toy, Grandma's surgery, world peace and the like. Meanwhile, my little Clampetts? Rash ridden backsides. The thing is, he wasn't trying to be funny or inappropriate (dear me, I hope his teacher didn't think so). He really does have a bad rash on his bum and has a doctor's appointment tomorrow at 10:30am to address it. As much as it made me inwardly giggle (and gulp), I knew he was completely sincere in making his request to the class.

So, if you think about it, can you pray for my little man's red rump? Oh, and pray that his teacher recovered from the shock of this innocent yet clearly unprecedented prayer request. Oy vey! Only us.

Pray for one another, that you may be healed. Jam 5.16b

Oh, Toni! That is SOOO precious! Out of the mouths of babes... ;) You and Carl were such a blessing to Josh & me last weekend. You've come to our minds several times & we've talked about how much we enjoyed being with you both. I hope your week back has been a good one, and that the coming week will be a fruitful one. You are loved, my friend! :)

Leave it to kids! I'd love to have seen the teacher's face.

That's better than someone (ahem, I won't say who) saying they had an itch on their bottom, then later their hands smelled like...well, like poop. Washing hands used to be a low-key thing around here. Not any more.

Rog drew a picture of a lobster on his bulletin yesterday next to Dad's typo that read "shelfishness". So while Reece was seriously asking for prayer, that's what MY man was doing!

Also, I gave you another award, dawg. Are you picking these things up? You should have a lot now!

Also, would it work to get together either tonight, tomorrow or Thursday? I'm going to call you after school, but Brandon might be napping, so if I don't get a hold of you, email me, K? :-) Oh, and I'm up to 13 pages!! I'm pretty excited.

Toni that was so cute. Kids are so honest and that is the best.

I wanted to also say thank you for the encouragement you posted on my last post. I try very hard to think about the Kingdom everyday and I think it its hard for us SAHM's to think we are really making a difference. I believe we are but it is through our actions and our sacrifices.

HAve a great week and God bless you.

Oh my gosh, that's GREAT! Can't you just hear our Father laughing in honest joy and unabashed love for your little guy? Oh, how He loves His little children.

You tell your son that we will all sincerely be praying for his dupe to get better!
When I was in high school (a Christian school) during chapel one week a first grader got up to give a praise report. His report:
"I thank God because this one time I stuck a bean in my nose and my dad got it out." Amen
Btw....love your 'blog purpose'. Perfect.
