A slice of Sunday

First, let me say Happy Mother's Day to all those women who, in some way, invest their precious time and hearts in the life of a child. Whether you are a teacher, child care provider, Sunday school worker, Auntie, or nurturing neighbor, (oh yeah, and/or a mother), this is for you. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY and thank you for making a difference in the life of a child in your own motherly and meaningful way.

Next, dh got baptized in church today. He was not raised in a Christian home, and since baptisms were always held on Sundays in our large church in Ohio (and he worked every single Sunday back then), he never had the chance to do this. Until today. It was sooo special to see him publicly claim Christ in front of our children, and to be baptized by none other than Miss Sniz' father, our pastor. I was talking with Pastor after the services, telling him I had encouraged dh to do a cannonball into the water (Oh! Yes! I! Did! Too!, among other suggestions such as swimming with a fish face to the front of the tank, and sputtering water, "fountain style", after being dunked.)

Now, STOP!
S-T-O-P already.
My pastor has a definite sense of humor and he knew I wasn't serious (though I'm not sure dh knew I was kidding, lol.) Anyway, Pastor told me the cannonball thing had actually happened before (wow!), so I tracked it down on You Tube.

A few videos for you.

And finally, Miss Sniz encouraged me to give doodling a try on my scrapbook layouts, as she has had success in adding it to her own pages. I took her up on it. Actually, I also took a shot at paper piecing (see large flowers on layout) as well as freehanding the title (with a little tool called the Fiskars Ultra Shap Xpress).

The doodling can be noted in the flourishes, the outline of the flowers, the swirls over the dots at the center of each flower and the "in"lining of the title letters. I like how it came out (thanks, Sniz).

Enjoy your Sunday, folks.

Those videos were AWESOME!!!!!! I actually teared up a little on the first one. It reminded me of the Steven Curtis Chapman video "Diving In." We should all dive in head first and just waller around in our salvation!!! Don't you know God was grinning from ear to ear!!!

Toni, my dear, you are one talented artist. I had no idea you were so gifted in artist ways when we met. Your page looks marvelous! The doodling is PERFECT!!!!! You took my idea and did it so much better than me. I am always amazed at your ability.

Anyway, it was such a BLESSING to witness Carl's baptism today. I feel so privileged!!! This was a very touching Mother's Day post and I hope you had a great day!

The cannonball kid made my day. Hope your Mother's Day was wonderful, Toni. I was so thrilled to hear that Sniz's dad baptized your husband - how special is that?

I laughed so hard I cried! Especially that first kid, just minding his own business, doing his thing swimming out of the baptismal.
Your page is awesome too. I could use some help for my boring pages. Maybe I should try doodling. Your's is cute!

pone......Happy Mothers Day......one day late of course. Tell Chuck I said congrats on taking the dip. I had allot to pack into one weekend and was lucky to even post on my blog. I'll have to email you the adventure of flying an 80 mph + plane at EC last evening. I'll just say all I heard on the first pass was about a 75 year old man scream "holy #%£?" you get the picture. I still laugh thinking of it.

Love

TOOOOOOO Funny! I personally think one of those targets on a dunk machine would be really fun! Really, though, HOW COOL for Dh to get baptized and for you to be going to church with Sniz's Dad as your pastor! I did not know that until I read ya'lls blogs last weekend!

What fun to catch up on your posts and videos and wheels that don't go round and round (I just loved that!). You're very good at this blogging business!

I finished up the video of Carl's baptism. I can give it to you on a disc that you can play on your computer. If you want something you can play on DVD player, you need to let me know. My camera work was REALLY bad, but I made it look OK with some handy editing. I hope you guys like it.
