The Blessing of Fellowship
Okay, I know I already posted today, but this one couldn't wait either (so many voices in my head, so little time to get them out). Here's the thing. It's midnight and I'm recalling what I was doing last night at midnight. Um, I was out at Starbucks having coffee with my dear new friend (courtesy of blogland), Miss Sniz. What??? Doesn't everybody sit in front of the Starbucks, the "closed hours ago" Starbucks, to gab over a cup of jo late into the night? No? Really? Because I'm thinking y'all do this too (wink, wink).
We planned to meet at 8:30pm "for an hour" for coffee. Nice plan, right? Only, what's "an hour" to two busy moms with common interests and a lot to say? It's FOUR hours. Uh huh, we talked until 12:30am. Did I hear a few gasps just now? See, because I really believe I did. Yes, we missed our mark. Our "one hour" plan, though sincere and well meaning, barely got us started. We just really enjoyed some mom time together (either that or we're die hard fans of Starbucks, right?)
And our dear husbands were not out of the loop. In fact, they were such a blessing to us, taking care of bedtime routines so we could enjoy our meeting. And get this. I even got to meet Mr. Shumway of Big Doofus Blog. By now, I'm sure most readers here know that Mr. Shumway and Miss Sniz are married. And, I'm thrilled to know them as new friends, both in blogland and in life.
Btw, I know of several other bloggers who might similarly post, "Guess who I met?" I won't mention any names (Dana and the other Toni), nor apply any pressure (What in the world are you waitin' for? Some particular shade of green?), but I do hope they'll take this step sometime soon as well. It's worth it!

Toni I clicked on both of the links in your blog and checked them out. Very nice . . . as I told them, you've reminded me of the three dear friends I have and the 3 to 4 in the morning talks we've indulged as well. Ours weren't at Starbucks though, we almost always end up at iHop or Denny's.
Nothing beats face to face fellowship! Glad you enjoyed your hour of coffee! I love it...that is truly one of the best things in life :) I'd love to meet anyone here in Downtown Denver!

Your recounting of the "significant Starbuck's meeting" was hilarious and so true. And Mr. Shumway was so tickled to get to meet YOU as well!
I've tried! Even went so far as to bribe her; all to no avail. I am beginning to think that she has heard from one of her sources that maybe I stink or something. Sniff, sniff.
So glad that you and Miss Sniz had such a great time.
That is so wonderful! I can understand spending time just talking and the time just flying and no kids saying, "Mom!", etc... Sounds kind of heavenly!
What fun! The hours slip by fast don't they.
I'd be so jeaous if I weren't so completely thrilled for the two of you. If I can't meet ya'll in person (at least not yet), then I'm thrilled that two of my most favorite bloggers ever got to hang out until the wee mornin hours. I'll just envision I was half the discussion. OH, I JEST! Good for ya'll!
I love meeting my friends "in real life." I have met quite a few. :) I also love when my "real life" friends start blogging. So much fun.
Toni, I'm sorry I'm dropping by before you post again. But I really want to tell you and your readers about this contest I have launched on my blog, celebrating the best husbands. Here are the details:
"Okay, I'll admit it. Anne Bradshaw over at Not Entirely British did a really good thing and I am shamelessly borrowing from her idea of spotlighting the most amazing youth in the world. I think it is incredible what she has done and the youth that are the finalists in her contest are truly amazing. If you haven't gone to her blog yet, read about them and vote, you're going to want to do that as soon as you're done reading mine, submitting a nomination and generally recognizing that I'm the greatest blogger to ever walk the earth . . . all right, all right, you don't have to do that last part. As long as it exists in my mind I'm okay with that.
Announcing the Best Husband in the World Contest -- please check out my blog today."
Imitation is the greatest form of flattery, right?
Lucky you to meet fellow bloggers. I would love to spend four hours in front of a starbucks with you, Toni.
