Roses with Reece
I try to cuddle more. He tries to pull away more. The bittersweet knowledge that your little boy is growing up. Sigh.
So tonight as I tucked him in (and tried to cuddle him more than he was willing to allow), we had one of our many special conversations.
me: Honey, you best let your momma cuddle you. If you don't let me, then how are you going to let your wife cuddle with you someday? She's going to want lots of cuddles."
Reece: (giggles rising) Huh uh, she'll...she'll...(reflective) do I have to cuddle her?
me: Well, yes. And when she has a particularly bad day, you'll need to try to help her feel better by saying things like, "Don't cook dinner, honey. I'm taking you out tonight."
Reece: (thinking, then proudly) I'm gonna take her to Joe's Crab Shack!
me: That sounds just lovely. Oh, and when you stop at the store on your way home from work, you'll want to grab some of those pretty fresh flowers they sell near the front.
Reece: They're pink. I don't like pink.
me: No, but she will and she'll feel very special if you remember her every now and then with flowers when she isn't expecting them.
Reece: (deeply pondering, then with great excitement) I knoOow! I'm gonna take her to the thrift store and let her take a loooooooong drink at the drinking fountain.
Sigh. Nothing says "I love you" like free water from Goodwill. That boy's got some learning to do before he takes a wife. :D
Genesis 29:20
So Jacob worked seven years to pay for Rachel. But his love for her was so strong that it seemed to him but a few days

That is a GREAT one for the books. I have one of those myself. He comes up with all kids of funny things:) It is such a blessing. We just need to remember that when they are having a bad day and just don't want to listen! God is GOOD!God bless you and have a great weekend.

I love Reece stories and this one is an instant classic. The other day our oldest (15) came in the house after being gone for a whole day (overnight with grandparents) and plopped right next to Miss Sniz--so close that he was practically sitting on her. It was such a neat thing.
Oh that's so cute! Don't you just love how they see their married days?! Mine (just turned 7) says he'll buy an RV, park it in our driveway and live in it with his wife so they can come in to the house in the evening for dinner! :)
Kids say the cutest things! My brother used to tell us that he was saving his money to buy his wife a house...he was about 5 years old at the time! ;)
That is hilarious! I have 2 girls, and I will tell ya, I appreciate the thought for the future husbands of America LOL!
BTW I found you at mhsrotties
How cute is that?! He must love long drinks at the fountain during shopping sessions. CUTE!
That is so precious! I too have can't get my son to cuddle as much as we used to. :(
Toni, I'm not kidding when I say that if you compiled this blog into written form and submitted it to a publisher, I am almost certain they would jump at the chance to publish it! This is soooo cute. I can just hear Reece saying it! Oh, and the word verification today is "conmen".
Snizzles, you are waaay too kind to say that. Love you.
Your Reece sounds like a real doll! Your future daughter-in-law will someday appreciate your attempts to teach him proper gift-giving too, I'm sure!
My boys don't like girly things either. *L*
What a b.o.y. No other way to describe him! :-) He is so precocious. I'm so glad you're a blogger! I love your stories. :-)
