Easter recap
Wow, what an absolutely beautiful Easter Sunday it has been. The weather was gorgeous. Our church service was beautiful. And we spent the day together as a family. He is risen indeed.
But that's not to say everything was 100% perfect. For starters, my 8yo son has yet to learn that he is not to manhandle the communion bread. Today he took a big piece (bigger than usual, which is already much bigger than others take.)
But he was really proud of his piece today because, "I finally pulled it off with only two fingers." What he failed to acknowledge was that he also stuck his other grubby paw on the bread as well, thus ensuring the two fingers of his opposite hand met with loaf pinching success.
Sigh.
Then there was the fact that my 3yo, who insisted on being held in my arms during the lengthy music worship, entertained himself in one of two charming ways: hitting "the girls" repeatedly while announcing "bra" as his motto, or attempting to grab said bra by reaching down the front of my blouse.
Just swell.
And wouldn't you know it, this embarrasing exchange took place on the day when Carl had invited a first time guest to join us for service (thankfully, I was spared mortification since he sat three people away and on the other side of Carl.)
We also logged our usual walking miles at a local park this evening. We figured it would be packed due to the great weather and spring holiday. Nope. Not sure where everyone holed up but it wasn't there, which was a bit of a disappointment because it meant Carl and I didn't get to sing, Footloose and I'm Alright .
Yeah, we like to do that every time we run into a guy who also frequents the walking path, who looks strikingly like Kenny Loggins.
And no, we do not sing those songs within earshot as he passes by.
As if.
Believe it or not, we do have some tact, you know.
We sing Danger Zone to him instead.
When we got back to the parking lot, a few young muscleheads received a bit of an ego bruising from one observant 3 year old. Brandon, who was busy attempting to ride his big sister's scooter through the parking lot, noticed the guys' Pontiac Solstice parked next to our van.

He stared at it with an expression that told me he was clearly in deep thought.
Then, "Hey mom. Is dat dare car?"
"Yes, honey. That is their car."
Brandon immediately broke out in a robust toddler giggle, announcing, "It looks like a Bar-bie carrrrr!"
And an "H" family day wouldn't be complete without at least a few Bunkerisms from Olivia. Like, "I need a varity of plants to feed my bugs, mom." Or, "I'll be sure to take my concrete jewelry off when we get home from church."
Good thing. Wouldn't want her stretching out her earlobes at such a young age and all.
Happy Easter!
Toni

Happy Easter, Toni! Glad to share it with you.
So glad to read an update! You and I both seem to be spending more and more time away from our blogs as kids get older and busier.
Thanks for your sweet encouragement. It really means so much to know you are praying! I also had to chuckle at your 3 yr olds fascination with the "bra" as mine has the same "issue." Those boys! :) And tell sweet Olivia happy up-and-coming gotcha day! I LOVE knowing someone else gets how amazing those days are! Absolutely life-changing on SO many levels!
Oh my goodness, Toni, your wit always makes me laugh! The comment you left on Big Doofus' post about the paper clip and the bag tie was TOO funny. I wish I would have been at the park that night. I love the Footloose soundtrack and I'm Alright is one of my favorites. You never told me. We'll have to sing it at Mickey Ds next time we have coffee. Love you, sis!
Your Easter celebration is very eventful and so much interesting with the children.
Here's to more wonderful candid moments this spring time!
